Choosing the best IVF clinic for yourself is highly dependent on your personal situation. Dr Shweta Goswami, Director, Zeeva Fertility, Noida & Delhi NCR, says, “Most fertility clinics have a structured discussion prepared for new patients outlining basic processes and procedures as well as answering FAQs. You should come prepared with all of your questions, in case they’re not covered in the overview. There are several common factors everyone should consider during their research and decision-making process pertaining to selecting an IVF clinic.”

Furthermore, Dr Haritha Rao, Director and HOD - Fertility and Reproductive Medicine, Ayaansh IVF, Bengaluru, advises selecting an IVF clinic where you feel truly cared for as an individual, where your treatment is personalised and tailored to your particular needs and not a one-size-fits-all approach. “Ideally, pick a centre that is at the cutting edge of the field and will be providing you every possible advantage for achieving success,” she adds.

For egg freezing, Dr Rao recommends a place that has a proven track-record of having achieved successful pregnancies with eggs that they have frozen, and that will be there when you need them in two, five, or even 10 years. When choosing a fertility doctor, rely on word-of mouth publicity; if multiple individuals have had a good experience and outcome with a particular physician, they are worth considering. “Look for a doctor specialised in the field of Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology, with at least two to three years of training during the certification,” suggests Dr Rao. Note that a larger volume fertility centre (doing more than 300 IVF cycles annually) with multiple physicians (more than four) is generally more likely to have the experience and resources to run a high-quality embryology lab. The quality of the embryology lab ultimately plays a critical role in the chance of success with IVF.
