Believe it or not, but TV shows serve a greater purpose than mere escapism. In fact, take it from an avid binge-watcher that most of the series teach us invaluable life lessons. Whether it is advice on finding love or tips on being a good friend, here are four shows that do a lot more than entertaining us.
Friends
We can’t not mention the show that taught us so much about love, and friendship, and made us laugh and cry at the same time. The biggest life lessons the show gave us is the importance of having a close-knit bunch of people to fall back on, and that finding your soulmate has nothing to do with age. Oh, and that it’s a bad idea to have ducks as pets!
Gossip Girl
There’s so much more to Gossip Girl than high school drama, the latest bags and shiny shoes! To be honest, there’s something to learn from all the characters of the show. Blair and Serena taught us that true best friends can get through anything together, Little J taught us the importance of being ourselves, and Lily and the Humphreys taught us the significance of family. Oh, and Gossip Girl herself gave us plenty of lessons on how taking social media seriously is always a bad idea!
Suits
Suits is hands-down one of the most compelling TV shows, and if you haven’t watched it already, we suggest you do so right away. The series revolved around Mike, a young college dropout, who got hired by Harvey to be his associate at one of New York’s prestigious law firms. Together, they solved complex cases while keeping Mike’s qualifications a secret. Throughout 9 seasons, Suits taught us to never give up as there’s always another way, even if the odds are against you. It also shed light on the importance of being a team player and working hard to achieve your goals.
