Let me start by asking this – Do you love someone else’s hair more than yours? Or do you wish for hair like someone? I’m sure most of you are giving this a nod as you acquiesce to this. Well, as they say, the grass is always greener on the other side. To be honest, I’m no different. And, for me, mighty curls like Taapsee Pannu have always been on the dream list. After all, who wouldn’t want to flaunt such beautiful and powerful curls? I mean, all Pannu needs to do to make a statement is just untie her locks and leave ‘em loose, and there – she looks like a total curl Goddess. But, it’s no secret that managing a curly mane is no fun and games. For the curls to shine in all glory, it’s crucial to use products crafted specifically for such hair and nourish them from time-to-time, to ensure they look healthy and maintained. So, I thought of reaching out to the diva herself and her to spill some tips and tricks that have kept her curls from going frenzied.
How important is your hair for you?
I feel like my curls are my biggest strength because I have spent years learning what works the best for my hair and the end result has been worth it. My curly hair is my identity and I proudly wear it like a crown. My curls are what make me unique! For me, having this curly hair representation – whether on-screen or with the brands I choose to work with, is highly important.
What's your hair care routine like?
I usually start with either oiling my hair and keeping it overnight or using a mask for at least 2-3 hours before I can shampoo my hair. I keep the conditioner in my hair for a good 10-15 mins and then wash it off. Post-wash care is also important. I use a leave-in serum followed by the Arata hair gel to make sure my curls look defined and frizz-free, once dry.

What are some hair care tips shared by your mother/grandmother that you follow to date?
Curly hair requires a lot of attention and pampering. And the one thing that I swear by is oiling my hair at least twice a week to give it the nourishment it needs to look healthy and beautiful. My mother or grandmother didn’t have curly hair so I had to learn to take care of them by my hit and miss trials.
How do you manage your mighty curls?
So my new go-to products have got to be from Arata’s new ‘Advanced Curl Care’ range. My favourite from the range has to be Advanced Curl Care Curly Hair Gel as it manages my curls and gives me a well-defined pattern for a soft and natural hold. It gives me immense pleasure to be associated with Arata as their CurlFriend and to be launching their Advanced Curl Care Curly Hair Gel. Not many personal care brands have catered specifically to the needs of the curly-haired community. Arata and I have come together to show curlies all around what frizzy, rebellious, spiralling curls are capable of bouncing into – when nourished with unadulterated, plant-powered love.

Tell us something about your skincare routine?
I have been very lucky to be blessed with good skin but all I do is not destroy it with bad eating and sleeping habits. Also, I keep it moisturised enough so it stays glowing.
What's one multipurpose product that you swear by?
I think that has to be a good nourishing hair oil. It can also be applied as a serum to tame curls.
You're constantly travelling, shooting and well, running. How do you take a pause and indulge in some self-care?
Apart from my skincare and haircare routines, I make it a point to sleep for at least 8 hours every day which is the best reboot for your body and system. I eat healthy and at proper times and intervals, drink lots of water and keep myself hydrated. When you are healthy from the inside it naturally reflects on your hair and skin.
