Stay alert, stay safe!

We’ve been reclaiming the corner office and our lives for some time – it’s time to reclaim the streets as well. In the spirit of standing strong, here are some tips on how to react quickly, stay alert and more, so that your self-confidence is high.

Rehearse scenarios

Stay alert, stay safe!
You practise interview questions, so why not practice physical responses? Wherever you are, imagine something that threatens you – and practise your response. What would you do? Preparing when there is no danger or urgency helps you feel more confident.

Take a self-defence class
Or two. These will help you not just learn some moves, but also practise them and thus feel better. Krav Maga is an Israeli hand-to-hand combat system and its simple yet effective moves can make all the difference to your state of mind.
Turn the music down

Stay alert, stay safe!
Turn down the volume of music down to a level where you can still hear your surroundings. This helps you feel less leery and also stay more alert.

Try not to use your phone more than necessary
Texting while walking, constant updates or notifications – these distract you. Keep your phone usage to the bare minimum. Clutch your phone in your hand for emergencies, but use it for social media only when you’re safely ensconced in a chair.
Take up a sport

Stay alert, stay safe!
Exercise makes the mind more alert and improves hand-to-eye coordination. Not only will you feel more energetic, but you’ll notice a difference in your reflexes and gait.
