Leave it to Manish Malhotra to turn any outfit, like the sari in this case, into a high-octane glamorous one. The designer, who has been credited with bringing chiffon saris to the fore, is now switching it up by adding sequins to them. It has, in fact, become his signature. Unless you’re living under a rock and without the Internet, you’ll know that these shiny saris have made numerous appearances on your Instagram feed thanks to the multitudes of celebrities who have worn them.

The latest in the list of actors to wear Manish’s sequin sari is Hina Khan, who chose the designer’s silvery mint creation from his collection Nooraniyat to wear on Big Boss OTT on which she made a special guest appearance.

The actor wore the sari with a stunning choker from Manish Malhotra Jewellery by Raniwala 1881, left her hair down with nothing but a soft blow dry, and kept her makeup clean.

Unlike other Manish Malhotra sequinned saris, this one isn’t completely swamped with shiny paillettes but also features pearls and bugle beads – also the designer’s signature. The gossamer-like tulle fabric is visible aplenty. What also makes this sari different is how the embellishments are arranged in perfect squares and spread throughout. The sari also features kasuti-like hand embroidery that is present all along the borders, which are lined with golden fringes – a mainstay in his p';collection along with feather trimmings on the pallu.

Manish Malhotra, who has also been the purveyor of many a blouse trend in Bollywood – think the bikini blouse spotted on Priyanka Chopra in the song Desi Girl from Dostana, the halter-neck blouse seen on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Mohabbatein – has also injected this style with quintessential Bollywood glamour. The sleeveless blouse is completely covered in glistening sequins and features a plunging neckline.

Although Hina Khan’s wardrobe offers endless inspiration for those who like to dress in Indian outfits, this body-hugging sari is perhaps on our top three. It’s traditional but re-hashed for women who like their traditional outfits to be contemporary, too. We suggest choosing it for an upcoming wedding party!
