Still hung up over the Alia-Ranbir wedding? You’re not alone. The couple has been releasing pictures of their wedding ceremonies in a periodic fashion, ensuring netizens are not robbed of their daily dopamine hits. After pictures of their fairytale balcony wedding flooded our Instagram, Alia Bhatt shared glimpses from her mehendi ceremony, and we’ve found ourselves waxing poetic about her outfit since, and believe that the actor is on the precipice of starting her own wedding wardrobe trends.
On that note, here’s us decoding Alia's glorious mehendi look so you can take notes for your trousseau. Since hers was a look for an intimate wedding, bridesmaids of the big fat Indian wedding variety can take this as their jumping off point, too!
The Fuchsia Pink Patch-Work Lehenga

Alia Bhatt’s mehendi lehenga was custom-made for the actor by designer Manish Malhotra using a sustainable approach. 180 pieces of textile featuring Banarasi brocades, jacquard, bandhani, deadstock fabric from her earlier custom-made outfits and some from the designer’s archives were intricately pieced together over a period of 3000 hours by artisans of the Mijwan foundation using hand-done cross-stitches. The outfit is inundated with Kashmiri and Chikankari threadwork and embellishments made with real gold and silver in the form of appliqué and nakshi work and vintage sequins sourced exclusively for the actor from Kutchh.
The Off-Kilter Blouse

Those who have observed Alia’s style will notice that the blouse’s shape is similar to the yellow Infinity Blouse, one of Malhotra’s seminal blouse shapes, that the actor wore to Anushka Ranjan Kapoor’s sangeet. This time, though, it has been rejigged to fit like a sleeveless halter neck crop top. Although the blouse has gotten a modest makeover since the last time it debuted on the actor, we love the underbust detailing, and still think it's every bit capable of invoking a major bridal trend.
The Polka and Emerald Jewellery

Scroll through pictures of Alia’s Indian looks and you will know that she is a big believer of wearing maang tikkas. This time, too, she skipped the earrings, and chose a solid polki maang tikka with emerald droppings and a matching choker that fits her snugly and sits perfectly over the high-neck blouse. The sharp contrast of the jewellery cuts through the fuschia and takes our attention to her pristine no-makeup makeup and loose locks that we thought complemented her laidback bridal style perfectly.
