Alia Bhatt, is an Indian actress, model and singer with twelve successful movies to her credit. She started her career at an early age of six with the movie Sangharsh (1999), where she played the lead, Preity Zinta’s younger self. Alia, daughter of ace director Mahesh Bhatt, completed her high-school from Jamnabai Narsee School IB in May 2011 after which she started her career in Bollywood as a lead role in the film Student Of The Year, directed by Karan Johar.
Known for her work in Bollywood movies such as Student of the year, Highway, 2 states and several others, Alia is considered a youth-icon with the versatility of roles rendered by her in mainstream cinema along with a short film, Going Home, she worked in the year 2014. For her exceptional work in the field of cinema, she has received numerous awards, including Filmfare, International Indian Film Academy Awards and was The Times of India's Most Desirable Woman of 2012, placed at 19th spot in 2012, The Times of India's Hotlist 2012 Most Promising Female Newcomer at #1 in 2013 and was listed in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia in 2017.
In addition to her acting career, she has performed playback singing for the song 'Sooha Saaha' in Highway, composed by A. R. Rahman. Later in 2014, she sang the unplugged version of the song 'Samjhawan', for the composers Sharib-Toshi, in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. In 2016, she sang an alternate version of the song 'Ikk Kudi', for the soundtrack of Udta Punjab, with her co-star Dosanjh. Alia is known for her activism for animal rights and has been associated with PETA since 2013 to raise awareness for homeless and stray animals. Alia will be seen playing the lead in Raazi, which is up for release in 2018.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are rumoured to be a couple – while they haven’t openly said anything about it. They recently wrapped up the shooting for Brahmastra together and have been seen in many photos together during this shoot. They also attended events together. While having been asked about the relationship, Ranbir is quoted to have said that the relationship is still new and “it would be really presumptuous to say anything about it or judge it”. Another rumour doing the rounds about them? That they’ll be tying the knot in 2020!
