Men's Fashion Week served multitudes of blazer looks that have inspired us to pick up a few ourselves. But if the world’s best-known designer’s left a few doubts astray, turn toward Alia Bhatt whose white outfit might just convince you to embrace the jacket into your everyday and evening wear wardrobe.
Alia, who is attending the Berlinale 2022, a film festival held in Berlin, Germany, for the world premiere of her new movie, Gangubai Kathiawadi, stunned in a creation by German designer Nobi Talai. She was seen wearing an outfit that consisted of a shapely yet slightly oversized double-breasted satin blazer with heat-pleated flare leg pants made of diaphanous georgette. Her hair was scooped up in a top knot — the actor’s go-to hair style of late — kept her makeup fresh and minimal, and wore a pair of pearl-encrusted chandelier earrings from Amama.
Among other things like inspiring us to incorporate more while into our wardrobes, Alia’s outfit has led us to think about the possibilities of wearing more blazers, even when the temperatures rise. Blazers, originally conceived as sweater-weather constants, have undergone a major design makeover. They are no longer fitted. They aren’t even necessarily made of thick materials anymore. Many Indian designers, in fact, have designed versions of blazers with linen, muslin, and other breathable fabrics and in shapes that are perfectly summer appropriate.
Taking a cue from Alia’s blazer style, here are some options we think could become the key pieces in your summer wardrobe. Take a look!
Summerhouse's printed anti-fit cropped jacket and pants that come with a matching belt to cinch the waist are perfectly palatable for summer. Wear it to work, a brunch, or a quick catch up with friends. A macrame-made tote will suit the laidback vibe of this set.
Perfect blazer set for the summer, this sleeveless number in a peachy hue comes with lace trimmings and a matching belt to cinch the waist. Wear it with pointy heels for an elegant evening look.
Swap a plain co-ord set with one that has been injected with bohemian elements like this set from Be True which features printed motifs and dori work on cotton silk. Wear it with statement earrings and a pair of Aprajita Toor’s new-age Kolhapuri footwear for an elevated indie vibe.
Speaking of bohemian, this dressy, sequin-lined option from designer Nikita Mhaisalkar’s season fluid collection is perfect for those summer sundowners. Throw on a chic cross-body bag and a pair of strappy stilettos to finish the look.
