India in 2022 was one nation with numerous paths—ideas, voices, initiatives, and connections. However, it is our heterogeneity that has characterised us as a nation where differences coexist, blend, and interact. Many rich opportunities have emerged from this diversity, and in the last 7 months, we as a nation have done precisely that. The year 2022 marks the 75th anniversary of India's independence, and while the country has primarily stayed robust throughout this time, recovering from a worldwide pandemic, now is the time to reflect. From events that unite us and instil pride to milestones that make us look back on where we are and how far we can go, here's a peek at what 2022 has been like for India so far:

Droupadi Murmu was sworn in as India's 15th president on July 25. The 64-year-old was chosen for the nation's highest constitutional office, making history as both the youngest president and the first tribal leader. In her first speech as President of India, she stated: “I am the first President of the country who was born in independent India. We will have to speed up our efforts to meet the expectations that our freedom fighters had with the citizens of independent India.” She is a strong woman with extensive administrative expertise, having worked in the Odisha government's transport, commerce, fisheries, and animal husbandry ministries. The election of Draupadi Murmu as president represents the true splendour of Indian democracy.

The International Society of Women Airline Pilots estimates that India has the largest proportion of female pilots in the world at 12.4%. A number of reasons, including outreach programs, improved business practices, and strong family support, are encouraging Indian women. In addition, India's civil aviation regulatory body, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), on August 10 issued medical guidelines for the first time allowing transgender and non-binary people to fly airplanes in the nation. Indeed, it marks a positive step toward inclusivity and shattering social barriers.

Indian startups have established themselves as remarkable resource for helping Indian youth to realise their aspirations. In 2014, just 300 to 400 companies existed in India, but that figure has since risen to 70,000. India has the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world. The success of our enterprises, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is the result of developing the nation's infrastructure, reducing bureaucratic processes, and changing people's perceptions. Several unicorns are added to the list almost every other month. There are a lot of startups, especially in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. This number will only go up as more young people work together to make the Indian Vision a reality.
