India is going through one of its hottest summers ever. Weather reporters are constantly warning citizens to stay indoors and protect themselves from the heatwave. People are complaining of fatigue without necessarily doing much in the day. Those who had fitness goals to achieve are facing a hard time. Just the thought of having to do an intense workout is taxing in this climate. That’s why we compiled a list of these five alternative workouts that won’t drain, but energize you:
Yoga

An ancient health practice that originated in India, Yoga gets your mind and muscles to work in tandem. It does this by stretching your spinal chord in six directions - forward, backward, upward, twist, sideways and up-side down - as that is what connects the brain to the rest of the body. It involves a lot of breath work and does wonders for our flexibility.
Pilates

If yoga is too slow for you and you’re looking to do a slightly more intense workout, pilates is the perfect choice! It’s a combination of yoga and strength training which involves working on one body part at a time in isolation, until a solid foundation has been laid for your physical fitness.
Resistance training

Lifting dumbbells and barbells in this summer heat can be a bit much, so the next best alternative is resistance training. This involves working out with a resistance band, and strengthening your muscles against its opposite-direction pull.
Swimming

Swimming makes for an amazing cardiovascular workout. It elevates your heart rate, boosts blood circulation and burns calories. Moreover, diving into a pool is a great way to beat the summer heat! So put your swimming gear on, it’s time to
Badminton

Sports add the ‘fun’ in functional. You don’t even realize that you’re working out, but you are. Badminton is a great summer-time sport. It makes for a good cardio exercise and keeps you lean, fit and agile.
